Wow, what a great way it was to start my day! I received a notification this morning that this blog had been voted the travel blog for 2015 in NepaliAustralian’s blog awards. I have to say that I was surprised but it put a wide grin on my face. This is the first blog awards I have received and it hugely encourages me to pursue blogging more actively.
I started this blog some three years ago, mostly to document my travels. I had been blogging about personal life events on another blog before that, but I started a new one to focus mostly on my travel stories. I did not promote this blog and told about it to limited people who I thought would genuinely enjoy reading my posts. It served as my personal space on the world wide web where I could express all the feelings inside me. I have now started engaging more actively on updating this space as well as interacting with other amazing bloggers and learning from them. All of my travel stories are my personal narratives on what I thought of those places, with occasional tips. I do not like doing the overtly touristic things and have developed my own style of exploring new places over the course of time.
Since the last couple of years, specifically after I moved to Poland from Finland, the amount of travels in Europe for me have increased. It is because Poland is in a much central location in Europe than Finland which makes it cheaper, faster and easier to travel from and to within the continent (and frequently elsewhere). Due to this, most of my blog posts are centered around my travels. I love exploring so many beautiful places in Europe and I think it is the best continent in the world, at least for traveling. Cheap and wide options for traveling between different places, compact yet very diverse in terms of culture, landscape and languages, a high standard of living and border less Schengen convention are some of the reasons why I hold that opinion.
I also have special interest in cultures and geography, and sometimes write about the cultural aspects of living in Europe. I also use this space for writing about topics that come under the wide umbrella of my life, as the categories on the main page suggest. I would like to extend my gratitude to NepaliAustralian for nominating my blog and for my readers who voted for this blog. It is truly a joy to know that some of you out there enjoy reading what I have to say. Please check out NepaliAustralian’s blog for her wide range of interesting topics and regular posts, as well as other fellow bloggers who were nominated or were winners in other categories. They are all amazing and truly worth checking out, if you like reading!
Congratulations 🙂
